Hating Someone Wont Get You Far In Life

Hate to many people is a strong word. It really should not be used at all because it could really hurt someone's feelings badly. Hate is an emotion as strong as love. If you hate someone you are giving them all your energy and emotion. Hate doesn't hurt other people, it hurts yourself. Hate is the author of war, prejudice, genocide, and many other evil things. If you hate enough it will become a cancer that will eat you alive.

This week I decided to take a poll on how people feel about hate. I asked the following questions:
1. How do you feel about the word "hate"?
2. If you were to hear someone or your friend say that they hate another person would you say that isnt nice or correct them and stick up for the other person?

Elizabeth Uustalu:
1. The word "hate" doesn't phase me anymore because people use it so much these days.
2. No, because it doesn't have anything to do with me, unless they are talking about my family, friends, or I.

Nicki Stoltz:
1. Hate. It's a strong, powerful yet hurtful word. People use the word hate all the time, without
seeing the power behind it.
2. As for my friends using it? I tell them, you can never hate someone or something.  No one ever
notices how much power is behind "hate" compare that to the racial slurs and homophobic
comments people make, and they respond. Then people would never use the word hate.

My challenge for you this week is to stop the hate that goes on in everyday life. If you have the courage like Rachel Scott did to stop others from saying bad things or "hating" others, do it. But if you just can stop people close to you that is always good too. Even the littlest things will make big effects.

  1. I hate to say that I cannot say that I don't have hate. The one thing I try to do differently is to direct my hate into a positive effect. Hate itself comes from a want to change something in a negative way or to retaliate. When I feel hate, I use the adrenaline rush and energy to do work or exercise. One common misconception that many people have is that if they ignore their hate, that it will go away. When a person gets angry, their body releases adrenaline and other chemicals to stimulate the muscles. The best way to release this emotion is by physical action that is not related to the situation that caused the emotion in the first place. The overall benefits are a release of chemicals that can become harmful if not released, a time set aside for physical exertion that allows the person to think and reflect on how to respond correctly, and a positive effect on the surroundings of the person who originally felt hatred. Don't thrive on hate, but don't think you can ignore it either. Deal with it correctly and in a positive manner.
